Nutrition Quadrant
FRS focuses on the relationship between food choice, mental health functioning and substance use for all its youth and family participants. The Community Learning Garden was created to teach youth how eating healthy supports emotional stability and improved health. Additionally, each youth participant is afforded monthly opportunities to visit the Garden with their counselors. There, each youth experiences the therapeutic value of gardening by nurturing live plants and produce. FRS counselors provide monthly nutritional facts and healthy recipes to promote health and wellness to all youth and their families. FRS currently offers:
- The Community Learning Garden
- Cooking demonstrations
- Nutritional assessments
- Nutritional planning and
- monitoring
A certified nutritionist is available when poor diet is found to significantly impact the mental or physical health of the youth.
